Recently, MotorWeek named the 2014 Mazda3 its “Best Compact Car,” after being selected as a 2014 Driver’s Choice Award recipient. Yet another reason why you should put this sporty new Mazda at the top of your list!

About the Award

The annual MotorWeek Driver’s Choice Awards have been recognizing the industry’s top models since 1983. Each vehicle is evaluated from a buyer’s point of view, with attention paid to factors like performance, practicality, price, and fuel economy. Advanced technology also plays a role in which models come out on top. This year marks the 17th time that a Mazda vehicle has received a “Best” award from MotorWeek. Multiple automobiles, ranging from sports cars and convertibles to minivans and hatchbacks, have been honored over the years, and it’s no surprise that the 2014 Mazda3 has received this distinction, as well.

Reasons to Love the 2014 Mazda3

The all-new Mazda3 has been redesigned from top to bottom and is available in either a four-door or five-door model. On i-designated models, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0L engine comes standard and produces 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. A 2.5L engine is also available. Drivers have the option of pairing the engine with the SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual transmission or the SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. These impressive powertrain options allow the 2014 Mazda3 to earn EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of up to 41 mpg on the highway for four-door models and up to 40 mpg for highway driving with the five-door version.

In addition to being recognized by MotorWeek, the 2014 Mazda3 has also earned the highest possible rating of “Top Safety Pick+” from the Insurance Institute for Highway  Safety (IIHS). Standard and available safety features on the latest Mazda3 include, but are not limited to:
