Founded in Hiroshima, Japan in 1920, the Mazda Motor Corporation began by making three-wheeled motorcycles called, “autorickshaws.” In the 1930’s Mazda sponsored events were emblemized with the autorickshaws, and this helped boost the popularity of motorized carts and brought the Mazda name into everyday life. The first passenger vehicle designed by Mazda was created in 1940, however, they were only known for the three-wheeled carts. At the time, more affordable cars were highly sought after, and Mazda started compiling designs for compact cars, trucks, and three-wheeled vehicles. This is what led to the design of the famous Mazda rotary engine.
At this time, the Mazda SKYACTIV technology is available in newer Mazda models. You’ll discover the Mazda3 and Mazda6 are equipped, and you’ll find the legendary rotary engines that gave Mazda a start are no longer as active. However, with the new, innovative designs and brilliant technology, it is still difficult to compete with a Mazda. Mazda designs some of the most powerful yet fuel-efficient engines on the market, making it truly difficult for models from Honda or Toyota to compare?
The name Mazda originally came from the name Ahura Mazda. Ahura Mazda is the God of harmony, wisdom and intelligence and the central deity of Zoroastrianism. The name was used by Mazda as a symbol of transformation in the modern world, and development into a new society. What does Mazda mean? Mazda is also a way to honor one of the founders of the company: Matsuda, which sounds very similar to Mazda.
